Replacement for 2004 Whirlpool microwave. This kit panel is plastic. The one it is replacing is metal and louvered. The kit cost $110; the oven it fit sold for $140.

Trim Kit is Plastic
Metal Maniac

Trim Kit is plastic and flimsy, and not even as strong as builder grade appliances, which are usually average or poor in quality. Just like the days of steel bumpers, finding a metal trim kit is nearly impossible and so we are left with more expensive, yet cheaply made plastic (junk). Microwave for this kit is wonderful, but buyer beware of the trim kit which cost as much as many microwaves today.

Trim arrived all scratched brand new in the box. Whirlpool will not help me under warranty as I did not buy directly from them. Poor packing and no support.

Cheap, ill-fitting, prior models much better

Hardly looks like a custom fit. Gaps greater than 1/4" on all sides of the microwave. Trim is cheap plastic and looks like it. Exceptionally disappointing, but we bought a Gold line microwave about 2-3 years ago and now this is the only size that will fit in our cabinet slot. Can I say again how disappointed I am that we went from a nice stainless trimmed microwave and trim kit to having only one option in cheap plastic? And it's pretty expensive for such poor quality. I expect more out of Whirlpool.
